The entire municipality is part of the traditional region of Inner Carniola and is now included in the Central Slovenia Statistical Region.〔(Ig municipal site )〕 ==Geography== Brest is a ribbon village along the road from Ig to Podpeč in a level area northeast of Tomišelj where the gravelly alluvial plain of the Iška River meets the actual soil of the Ljubljana Marshes.
